Blocking China IP Address

Today I was browsing my website logs and I noticed a lot more spam email activity mostly originating from IP address located in China so I made the big decision to block all of China from accessing my websites. So in order to block China web traffic on port 80 I added a bunch of “deny from ip address” statements in my .htaccess file. Luckily for me I found a website “http://www.okean.com/thegoods.html” that maintains a current list of Chinese addresses and other bad addresses . We will see in time if the hacking traffic slows down.

WordPress Multisite and Domain Mapping is working

So after three days worth of lunch hours I finally got WordPress Multisite with sub directories and WordPress MU Domain Mapping working correctly on my hosting provider. I had called bluehost on Monday and asked some basic questions and they did not know what I was talking about, so I went off to Google looking for my answers.  It took some time and  I did delete a hole WordPress installation or two but I finally got it all working correctly. No issues so far permalinks are working correctly, mapping the domains is working, and shit all my plugins seem to be working as well. I do however have a feeling that the primary site “clintonmann.com” is going to suffer performance problems but I guess I will deal with that problem when I can.

Got my online resume up

So clintonmann.com has always had an online version of my resume and I always found it a pain to maintain. So since I already manage my online resume on linkedin.com why not just use that content from linkedin right? So I did some digging and I found a solution that works pretty well which is FB Linkedin Resume. So FB Linken Resume is a WordPress plugin that allows you to publish all your LinkedIn public profile (or just some selected parts) onto your wordpress site. In order to really make the most of the plugin you need to have your linkedin.com profile setup to be public and you need to setup a custom url in linkedin.

Shortcodes supported by plugin:

Supported shortcodes

fb_linkedin_resume_full: prints all your LinkedIn public profile
fb_linkedin_resume_header: prints the upper badge.
fb_linkedin_resume_summary: prints the “summary” section.

fb_linkedin_resume_certifications: prints the “certifications” section.
